Powertrain
The Hurricane 4 Turbo marks a significant addition to the Grand Cherokee powertrain lineup. This 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder uses Turbulent Jet Ignition technology, which ignites fuel in a pre-chamber above each cylinder before expanding into the main combustion chamber. This process enables faster, more complete combustion, contributing to both performance and efficiency.
The engine produces 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, with 90 percent of peak torque available from 2,600 to 5,600 rpm. A variable geometry turbocharger provides responsive boost at low engine speeds for acceleration and cruising. The Hurricane 4 Turbo enables a driving range of up to 814 kilometres on a single tank and supports a towing capacity of up to 2,812 kg (6,200 lbs). This engine is assembled at the Dundee, Michigan, Engine Plant and will be available across multiple Grand Cherokee trims.
The base Laredo and Laredo X trims carry over the 3.6-litre V-6 engine from the previous model year. The Grand Cherokee 4xe continues to offer plug-in hybrid propulsion, pairing electric and gasoline power for a total of 470 lb-ft of torque. The Trailhawk trim, available exclusively with the 4xe powertrain, provides the highest departure angle and standard torque in the lineup.
